Clubhouse Plans To Launch Monetization Tools For Creators
Rising audio-based social app Clubhouse recently announced it raised a new undisclosed round of funding led by Andreessen Horowitz.
In a blog post by co-founders Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, it revealed its planning to use a portion of the funds to invest in creators by helping them get paid directly through the app. The co-founders stated the following;
“Creators are the lifeblood of Clubhouse, and we want to make sure that all of the amazing people who host conversations for others are getting recognized for their contributions. Over the next few months, we plan to launch our first tests to allow creators to get paid directly—through features like tipping, tickets, or subscriptions. We will also be using a portion of the new funding round to roll out a Creator Grant Program to support emerging Clubhouse creators.”
Tipping, TickEts & Subscriptions To Help Creator Monetize
Although details are minimum, Clubhouse will roll out creator monetization features and tools like tipping, tickets, and subscriptions, and a Creator Grant Program for emerging creators. In addition to these creator-focused initiatives, it will build an Android version of the app, strengthen its servers, and improve user and content discovery.
Creators Are A Driving Force
Despite being around for less than a year, Clubhouse has picked up significant interest from people from all walks of life. Whether it’s everyday people, influencers, entrepreneurs, or celebrities, creators have been the driving force in bringing users to the app and keeping them engaged for long periods. As seen with TikTok and Twitch, creators are increasingly playing a role in what platforms the masses choose to use and spend their time on. Due to this, it's more important than ever for platforms to find opportunities to help creators monetize so that they will be encouraged to continue to invest in these platforms and help drive user engagement.
Since Clubhouse is relatively new, it has had the luxury to understand the importance of creator monetization and the different ways it can be done. By initially exploring tipping, tickets, subscriptions, and a Creator Grant Program, Clubhouse shows its early commitment to keeping creators happy and making creators the app's centerpiece.
With a growing user base, tons of buzz, reportedly a boatload of money, and plenty of copycats on the way, Clubhouse is looking to be the next major social network.
