ByteDance-Owned Editing App CapCut Launches an Affiliate Program for Instagram and YouTube Creators

CapCut

CapCut, an all-in-one editing app developed by ByteDance, has launched an affiliate program to recruit creators to share CapCut-related content on Instagram and YouTube in exchange for rewards. To be eligible, creators must be at least 18 years old, based in the United States, and active on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and other channels.

Specific details about the program are scarce, but creators can receive various incentives for driving traffic and attracting new users, including commissions of up to $20,000. Top performers will also receive customized CapCut templates and the potential for long-term partnerships. New users who join CapCut can also receive incentives such as a free pro membership.

To be considered for eligibility, creators can fill out a short form, providing links to their YouTube and Instagram profiles, contact information, and CapCut ID.

Why it Matters: In recent months, ByteDance, which is also the parent company of TikTok, has actively promoted CapCut through various means, including their TikTok for Business newsletter and social accounts.

This newly introduced affiliate program is an extension of ByteDance's broader initiative to attract more marketers and content creators to utilize the CapCut app for a wide range of content creation needs. These needs span from crafting organic videos to producing ads and promotional content.

What adds an intriguing dimension to this program is its deliberate focus on engaging Instagram and YouTube creators to promote CapCut and not specifically TikTok creators. But, that is likely due to most TikTok creators are already well-acquainted with CapCut, thanks to its popular Templates feature, while creators on other platforms, like Instagram and YouTube, might not be as familiar. Partnering with creators on non-TikTok channels can help ByteDance showcase the value and versatility of CapCut for all different use cases and expand its user base.

The CapCut Affiliate Program is the latest addition to a continued growing way for creators to monetize across ByteDance-owned platforms, including TikTok and Lemon8 as well. It’s not the first way creators can monetize through CapCut, though. CapCut also has a Creator Program, where creators can earn money for creating templates and tutorials.
