Nike unveils its new 150,000 square foot NYC Headquarters

Nike Swoosh Headquarters

Nike can now call New York City it's second home. Today, the Swoosh unveiled Nike NYHQ, its new Headquarters Office in the Big Apple. Located on 855 6th Ave, the 150,000 square foot, six-story office was designed by Nike’s Workplace Design + Connectivity (WD+C) team in partnership with Studios Architecture.

The state of the art space includes offices, conference rooms, common areas, wellness rooms, a design studio, a fitness studio, a library, and a 4,000 square basketball court with seating for 400. The court will be available to Nike Staff, local leagues, high school teams, and community partners. On the six-floor is a terrace with a view of the Freedom Tower and a huge Swoosh logo that is formed by plants and can be seen from a distance.

The interior of Nike NYHQ has been designed to facilitate creativity and collaboration through open-plan, freestyle work spaces. Meeting areas include a VW van — a tribute to the original van from which Bill Bowerman and Jeff Johnson would distribute Nike shoes at track meets in the company’s early days. Several conference rooms feature custom ceiling tiles, designed by Miniwiz, which are also made from recycled materials. A roof terrace (complete with plants in the shape of the NIke swoosh), allows for open-air meetings and relaxation, and food is served from a food truck housed in the building.

Nike's Global and North American Headquarters will still operate in Beaverton, Oregon, but NYHQ  will function as the hub for the East Coast and help it's recently announced Consumer Direct Offense, which is aimed to help better serve its customers personally and at scale.
