Roblox Creators Are Expected To Make Over $800 Million This Year
Roblox has revealed that its creators earned over $800 million since the beginning of last year, with $182 million earned in the first quarter of this year. On average, the top-earning creators made $23 million each, and almost all of the top 500 creators earned at least $140,000.
Currently, creators can earn money by selling virtual goods and Limiteds, creating experiences, receiving engagement-based payouts, and immersive ads, among other methods. However, the platform plans to provide them with more ways to earn by the end of the year. In addition to clothing and accessories, creators will be able to create more types of items, such as bodies and heads. They will also be able to sell subscriptions for recurring revenue and real-world goods within an experience.
Roblox is also developing in-app experience creation tools, making it accessible even to people with no prior experience in 3D content creation software.
With new avenues for creators to earn and a simplified process for becoming a creator, Roblox is poised for another strong year. It expects creators to earn $800 million in 2023 alone, which is significant given that much of the hype around the metaverse and NFTs has died down. Additionally, Roblox's new app on Meta's Quest VR headsets will help attract a broader user base.
