X Delays Creator Payments for Its Ad Revenue Sharing Program

The next round of payments for X's ad revenue sharing program, which compensates creators based on ad impressions in replies to their posts, will be delayed. According to X Support, the delay is due to an unexpected surge in sign-ups for revenue sharing, which requires more time to "review everything." While a specific payout date has not been announced, X says it will "pay all eligible accounts as soon as possible."

X's latest issue with the ad revenue sharing program is not surprising given its history of inconsistency. For X to truly support creators in earning a living, it must prioritize meeting their basic needs, such as timely payments. This issue is particularly significant as other platforms like Meta and Patreon have also encountered their own challenges in the past week. Meta's system glitch resulted in erroneous payouts, displaying inflated earnings for Reels featuring music from Meta's library. On the other hand, Patreon faced a higher-than-average number of flagged payments, leading to transaction cancellations and supporter subscriptions.
