Twitch Updates Its Enforcement System to Include Expiration Periods for Violations

Twitch Violations

Twitch / Enforcement System

Twitch has updated its Enforcement System to now include expiration periods for most Community Guidelines violations.

Minor violations will now expire after 90 days, while more severe violations will expire after 1–2 years. The most severe behavior will lead to an immediate indefinite suspension, with streamers able to apply for reinstatement after six months.

Additionally, Twitch will implement escalating consequences for repeat offenses and allow streamers to view the chat message or stream snippet that triggered an enforcement action.

Why It Matters: While Twitch isn't changing its Community Guidelines, these updates offer a more balanced approach to enforcement. Previously, violations stayed on a streamer’s record permanently, which could lead to long-term negative consequences.

Other platforms, including Meta and YouTube, have recently updated their violation policies to balance enforcement with fairness, particularly for smaller infractions, with the goal of minimizing the negative impact on creators' livelihoods.
