Triller Launches A New Live Streaming Feature For Creators With Monetization Tools
This month, Triller launched a new live streaming feature that enables creators to live stream content to their audience.
Besides expanding Triller’s capabilities as a platform, the feature delivers a new monetization source for creators. Due to accompanying paywall and donation features, creators that go live can raise money during their streams, keeping 70% of the money they raise.
Also, Triller has designated a $5 million fund for live initiatives. The platform will give the first 10 influencers who hit 100,000 concurrent views $50K donations.
“We always want to put our artists first. Go live was one of the first things our influencers wanted. In response, we designed a program that is the best and most sophisticated go live technology there is. This will be game-changing for influencers,” said Bobby Sarnevesht, Chief Triller Officer and Executive Chair.
Triller’s deeper dive into live streaming follows its recent acquisition of Halogen Networks, a live and on-demand entertainment company.
Insights & Analysis:
Triller joins the likes of Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, and other platforms that give users the ability to live stream content.
Due to the pandemic, live streaming has exploded, so it should be no surprise that Triller launched a feature to support it. Doing so capitalizes on the emergence of live streaming that is likely to last beyond the pandemic and expands the capabilities that it offers users, allowing them to create and consume content outside of short-form videos.
With the social media landscape more competitive than ever today, platforms no longer can focus on one type of content. It’s almost a necessity that platforms expand their features and tools to include a bit of everything to keep users' attention and remain competitive.
Although it’s unlikely that Triller will ever become a one-stop-shop like Instagram, which supports everything from photo and video sharing to shopping, it will need to keep evolving and support new capabilities, especially those that rival TikTok launch.
The monetization tools for creators are also notable, given that creator monetization has been a topic of focus for social media platforms. Like TikTok, Triller has positioned itself as a creator-first platform. Triller shows it’s not just a marketing strategy by enabling creators to monetize directly on the platform and allow them to keep a significant portion of money sent to them.
TikTok has significantly more users than Triller, but Triller has increased its user base over the last few months. Due to talks about a potential ban of TikTok in the U.S., many creators joined Triller and asked their followers to do the same. Also, Triller has done a solid job of rolling out new features and tools for marketers including Crosshype, a new platform that enables marketers to purchase influencer marketing campaigns with guaranteed views and a calculable CPM.
