TikTok Tests AI-Generated Avatars for User Profiles
TikTok is currently testing a new generative AI avatar feature in select markets. This feature enables creators to upload three to ten photos of themselves, which then leverages AI to generate up to 30 different avatars in various styles. These avatars can be used on one's TikTok profile or shared as a TikTok Story. All uploaded photos are moderated and must comply with TikTok's Community Guidelines.
This new feature is similar to the Lensa AI app, which became popular last year for generating portraits in different styles. Generative AI technology is gradually making its way into social media platforms, with Snapchat, LinkedIn, and Meta experimenting with generative AI capabilities.
In the future, creators may no longer need third-party apps to create content for social media platforms, as many of the social media platforms will have their own generative AI experiences built using their own technology or integrated with AI-first companies.
