Less than a week after rolling out its Family Safety Mode features, TikTok is back in the news.

Earlier today (February 25th), the ByteDance owned company took to its brand account and introduced a new feature in Pinning Stickers. The feature is self-explanatory as it allows users to pin stickers on their videos. It’s actually pretty similar to features that both, Instagram and Snapchat, already have.

Now Introducing: STICKER PINNING! Pin stickers to your videos and make magic happen.

You can access the feature by first taking or uploading a video and then tapping the sticker icon at the bottom of the editing screen, which will generate the Stickers and Emojis option tray. From there, you tap a sticker of your choice. This will add it to your video. If you hold down on the sticker, there will be a ‘‘Pin’ option that pops up that lets you pin the sticker anywhere on your video. Additionally, there is a ‘Duration’ option to select the length of how long you want the sticker to appear on your video.

Insights & Analysis:

The launch of Pinning Stickers or for that matter, any new feature on TikTok, shouldn’t be much of a surprise as TikTok has been consistently rolling out new features and tools or at least experimenting with them over the last few months.

The ability to pin stickers won’t generate a ton of conversations especially compared to some of the more recent, impactful features like Family Safety Mode yet it’s something new for users to have at their disposal as they create and edit the videos. With a platform like TikTok that thrives on fun-filled, entertaining videos, continuing to provide creators with new features to take advantage of their creativity is a good move — no matter, how big or small the feature is.

With Instagram and Snapchat already having features that let you pin stickers on content, this is also another example of social media platforms copying each other. Due to this consistently happening, platforms are starting to look and feel more and more like each other, which of course, has its pros and cons.
