The NFL to have presenting sponsorships for its playoff games
The NFL is looking to have its playoff and Thanksgiving games presented by a sponsor. According to reports, the league could have presenting sponsorships in place before the 2019 playoffs.
There is no word whether the sponsorships will come from new or existing partners but regardless, it won't be cheap for them. It's estimated that presenting sponsorships could bring in as much as $15 million per year to go top of the billion the league already makes in sponsorships each season. Beyond the monetary benefit, the right sponsorships could give the league additional promotion.
It seems like the league is following in the steps of the MLB. Last year, the baseball league sold sponsorships for some of its playoff games including a deal with YouTube for the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros . The deal was focused on promoting the Google-owned company's YouTube TV service. It included several commercials, social media content, and signage behind home plate that caused bit of a uproar.
