Substack has launched Substack Creator Studio, a new video fellowship designed to assist TikTok creators in transitioning their TikTok channels into Substack shows and communities.

Ten creators spanning various verticals will receive strategic support and promotion through the program. This includes consulting from Adam Faze and Gymnasium, the short-form video studio behind several popular TikTok series, along with services from Substack’s Partnership team to aid in the launch and marketing efforts across Substack’s properties and its press team.

Interested U.S.-based creators can apply for consideration by submitting an application before May 17th.

Why It Matters: The potential ban on TikTok is opening doors for other platforms to attract TikTok creators. Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat are the most apparent alternatives due to their similar short-form video formats. However, newsletter platforms like Substack and beehiiv are also seizing the opportunity to onboard new creators, although Substack says this initiative isn't directly in response to the TikTok situation.

Despite its initial stance against social media, Substack has evolved into a platform resembling social media, offering features like chat and short-form text posts in Notes and support for podcasts and video content.

With this program, Substack aims to leverage its capabilities and support to create case studies demonstrating how short-form video creators can build, grow, and monetize through direct-to-audience platforms like newsletters.

Shop by Newsletter: While Substack focuses on attracting short-form video creators, another group of creators—fashion enthusiasts—has been increasingly drawn to the platform.

Over the past year, there has been a surge in creators launching Substacks to share fashion tips and curated product recommendations with their audiences, monetizing through subscriptions and affiliate links.
