Spotify and Hulu announce new partnership that offers students a $4.99 streaming bundle

Spotify Hulu $5 Student Bundle

College students across the U.S. can rejoice as Spotify and Hulu announce a new partnership that will give students the best of both worlds in entertainment while also keeping their expenses low.

The two companies are teaming up to offer a discounted subscription bundle to college students, allowing them to listen to their favorite musicians on Spotify and watch their favorite television shows and movies on Hulu. Available to qualifying new and existing Spotify student subscribers, Spotify Premium to Students, now with Hulu gives students access to Spotify Premium and Hulu's "Limited Commercials" plan for only $4.99 a month.

Spotify's existing student plan is the same price so students who subscribe to the new bundle are basically getting Hulu for free. In addition, the bundle is $13 cheaper than what it would cost to subscribe to the streaming services separately.  In the future, Spotify and Hulu plan on expanding their bundle to a broader market but at a more expensive price.

The partnership marks the first time that Spotify has teamed up with a company that offered a television or movie product. Originally, Spotify made efforts to launch its own on-demand video service, but ultimately failed.  With the hiring of former Disney exec Courtney Holt, it instead plans on focusing on creating original content for its popular playlists like RapCaviar and Rock This
