Skype's Call Recording Feature Is Finally Available
Skype announced that it has officially rolled out its call recording feature.
"When we added video to Skype calls over ten years ago, the ability to share important moments with loved ones took a big step forward," the Microsoft-owned company stated in a blog post. "Today, we’re introducing call recording to help capture special moments in a Skype call with your loved ones or record important meetings with your colleagues."
The cloud-based feature is available now on the latest version of Skype on most platforms with the exception of Windows 10. A version for Windows 10 will be available down the line.
Call recording can be started anytime during a Skype call on both, desktop and mobile devices. On desktop devices, you can enable it by clicking the + sign and then selecting Start recording. On mobile devices, you can enable it by tapping the + sign and then tapping Start recording.
In both instances, when call recording is started, all participants will be notified via a banner that appears on the screen. Once recording has stopped, the recording will be posted to the chat. All participants will be able to access the recording over the next 30 days with the option to save it locally or share it with others directly from Skype.
As I mentioned previously when Skype announced Skype For Content Creators in April, a call recording feature on Skype would be very useful for digital broadcasters, streamers, and bloggers. Instead of having to spend hundreds of dollars on expensive studio equipment, a call recording feature gives them the ability to record videos, podcasts, and live streaming relatively easy and cheap.
