Pinterest has introduced a new ad format called Promoted Carousel, which allows businesses to include up to 5 images in their ads.

According to the social networking platform, this format “can present a product’s numerous features, drive additional purchases by showing multiple items in a Pin or increase awareness with a multi-image brand story.”

Each card of the Promoted Carousel can feature a different image, title, description, and landing page, giving businesses greater flexibility when showcasing their products. Depending on targeting, a Promoted Carousel can appear on the home feed, Related Pins section, or in the search results.

Before launching, Pinterest teamed up with brands such as COVERGIRL, DSW and Cheerios to test out the new ad format and each reported positive results. For an example, DSW’s ad performance improved by 20% when they showcased their back-to-school promotion in the Carousel format.

Promoted Carousel is now available for all business accounts in each of Pinterest’s ad markets.

Back in September, Pinterest opened up its API to third-party influencer marketing platforms.
