Instagram will start organizing comments by threads
Following in the foot steps of its parent company Facebook, Instagram announced yesterday (August 15th) that it will start organizing comments by threads. It made the announcement on its blog, stating:
"Comment threads help you keep track of conversations and make it easy to respond to a specific thread. This update will make your feed an even better place to share interests, get inspired and connect with others."
It's a small update, but definitely a useful one that will be embraced by users who have trouble keeping track of conversations on the photo/video-sharing app.
Previously, all comments appeared in a single column. Now, with the update, replies to comments will be grouped. When a user replies to a comment, their reply will be indented, appearing underneath in a thread. For comments that have multiple replies, the number of replies will only be shown until the user clicks "View All," which then will reveal all of the replies.
Check out the screenshot below for an example of how comments and replies will appear now.
This is the latest update in a marathon of updates that Instagram has made over the last few months. Earlier this month, they started to roll-out Go Live With, a new feature that allows two users to host a livestream together.
