Back in May at Google I/O 2018, Google announced it was revamping the Google Maps app to make it a more personalized experience.

While the revamped Google Maps has been live for a while now, some of the features that were announced have not been available. Until yesterday (September 25th), this included the anticipated Group Planning feature. The company recently revealed in a blog post that the feature is now being rolled out for iOS and Android devices and will be available for all users within the next week.

Group Planning allows you to make a shortlist of restaurants and destinations that you’re interested in going to. You can share this shortlist with your friends via any messaging platform. Those with access can add or remove places as well as vote thumbs-up or thumbs-down for places that they want to go to or for places that they don't want to go to, respectively. Google keeps tracks of the voting, making it easy for you and your friends to decide on where you’re going without the need for a long string of text messages or back and forths.

You can download or update Google Maps from the Google Play Store or Apple Store.
