Bluesky Launches TikTok-Like Custom Video Feeds with 'Trending Videos' Section

Bluesky, a competitor to X and Threads, launched custom feeds for videos. On mobile, users can now access a "Trending Videos" section in Explore, showcasing popular videos within their network.

We had to get in on the video action too — Bluesky now has custom feeds for video! Like any other feed, you can choose to pin these or not. Bluesky is yours to customize.

Tapping this section opens a vertical, immersive video feed where users can swipe through and engage through liking, sharing, commenting, and reposting. Additionally, users can pin this feed to their homepage for easy access.

Why It Matters: Like many other social media platforms, Bluesky is looking to capitalize on TikTok’s uncertain future in the US. By introducing a vertical video feed, the decentralized platform offers a TikTok-like experience for those seeking their short-form video fix on an emerging platform.

With just over 28 million users, Bluesky has been steadily growing in recent months. As TikTok’s long-term future in the U.S. remains uncertain and Meta faces scrutiny over its recent moderation changes, decentralized platforms like Bluesky, which give more control to users, are well-positioned to become significant players in the social media ecosystem.
