Bandsintown's New ‘Watch Live’ Feature Enables Artists To Promote Their Live Streams Through Push Notifications
Days after launching its own Twitch channel to stream performances and support the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, Bandsintown announced the launch of a new feature in WATCH LIVE notifications. The new feature empowers artists to easily promote their online concerts, which have become increasingly popular as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Through WATCH LIVE, registered artists can send push notifications whenever they are live streaming. These notifications will appear on Twitch, Facebook Live, IGTV, YouTube, StageIt, and other streaming platforms. Along with this, artists can promote their live streams in Instagram Stories, on their Facebook page, on Amazon’s Alexa, on Billboard.com, and other websites that have Bandsintown integration.
“Artists and fans are already missing the tribal experience that live shows create. We all must do whatever we can to keep that feeling alive as well as help artists in these difficult times,” said Fabrice Sergent, Managing Partner of Bandsintown. “WATCH LIVE and a new Bandsintown Live music channel on Twitch are the first of many new initiatives from Bandsintown.”
WATCH LIVE will be available on the Bandsintown For Artists platform starting next week.
Insights & Analysis:
With many artists flocking to Twitch and Instagram Live to stream performances from their homes due to concerts being canceled, the WATCH LIVE feature will be useful in helping them promote those streams and getting their fans to tune in. Plus, fans will benefit from WATCH LIVE since it will make it a bit easier for them to keep track of live streams that they want to watch by sending a push notification, making it a win-win situation for artists and fans.
There is also something to say about the quick release of the feature. It’s a great example of platforms being innovative in an effort to support artists who are in a tough situation. The same could be said for SoundCloud, who just announced a new partnership with Twitch that will allow SoundCloud subscribers to fast track Twitch Affiliate status and make money through their Twitch streams.
Based on what has happened in just the last few days ago, I’d expect more platforms to roll out new features and tools and launch new partnerships to support creators of all levels.
