Artifact Adds New Post Feature That Lets Users Share Content Directly on the App

Artifact

Following its previous update, which allowed users to share links, Artifact has added another feature for sharing content.

This time, the AI-powered app enables users to post their own content directly on the app. In addition to the "Link" option, there is now a new option for users to share a "Post." Users can add a title, text, and their own images to share whatever they like, such as commentary, restaurant reviews, how-to guides, recipes, and more.

These will have their own unique URLs, making it easy to share them across other platforms. Similar to links, posts are shared to a visual feed and distributed to users' followers as well as users who read similar topics.

Why it Matters: Artifact, which has only been around for a little over six months, is rapidly evolving. It originally launched as a "TikTok for Articles," but with the introduction of new features, including its most recent one—the ability for users to create new content—it is now more than just a news and link aggregator. Users, including creators, can share original posts and potentially build an audience.

Creators are already inundated with choices for social media platforms, so the addition of another one isn't always ideal. However, for creators who are looking to be early adopters of a platform, Artifact could be a viable option, especially if they primarily share text-based content.

With this added functionality, Artifact is now a stronger competitor to Flipboard, X, Threads, and even Instagram, which Artifact’s co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger also founded.
