Instagram's new Archive feature allows users to hide posts
After a month of testing, Instagram goes live with its new Archive feature. With Archive, you no longer have to delete posts that you don’t want to appear on your profile. Instead, you can hide photos or videos and tuck them away in a section that is only visble to you. You also have the ability to restore anything that has been archived and when restored, those photos or videos will re-appear on your profile in chronologically order as if they were never hidden.
WHY ARCHIVE IS VALUABLE
This is one of Instagram's most valuable new features especially for those who have been on the platform for a while. The quality of photos or your profile's aesthetic wasn't really a focus in the early days of Instagram so its more likely than not your current photos and aesthetic are superior to what you posted when first joining Instagram. By utilziing Archive, you now have quality control.
Besides quality control, the feature is helpful in hiding photos that may no longer represent you, are embarrassing, inappropriate, didn't just get enough engagement or may just be temporary.
How To Archive
So how do you Archive a post? Well, its very simple. Open up a photo or video that you want to hide, click on the three dots that appear in the top right of the post, and then select "Archive."
Accessing Your Archive
To access your archived photos, go to your profile, and click the rewind button that is at the very top right. You will see all the photos or videos that you have archived. You can make any post re-appear by opening it up, clicking the three dots in the top right post, and selecting "Show On Profile."
