Twitter Tests A New ‘Flock’ Feature To Allow Users To Share Tweets Privately
Twitter is testing a new feature called Flock, which will allow users to share Tweets privately.
The feature would function similarly to Instagram's Close Friends feature. Code discovered by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi indicates that users would be able to add people to Flocks, allowing them to share content with them only, rather than the general public. Like Close Friends, users can remove people from their Flock at any time without being notified.
In response to a growing interest among users in having more flexibility in sharing content with specific people, social media platforms like Instagram and now Twitter have introduced features that allow users to do this. In the past, social media was primarily used to share content with the masses, but more recently, people have become interested in being able to share content with a smaller group of people, particularly more personal or intimate moments.
From the marketing perspective, Flock would enable marketers to segment their audiences and share relevant content tailored to each audience so they can maximize engagement.
