Twitch Is Rolling Out A Redesigned Channel Page To Give Creators More Control Over The Look Of Their Channels & To Improve The Viewer Experience
Twitch is rolling out a newly redesigned channel page for creators.
"We’ve spent the past year testing, listening to feedback from our community, and refining the page to ensure we were delivering an experience that not only made it easier for streamers to define who they are but improved how viewers discover new creators and communities. We’re excited to announce that the new and improved channel page begins rolling out today," the live streaming platform said in its announcement blog post.

At the core of the redesigned channel page is a new customizable home page, which provides creators with a range of branding options. They can now add bigger customizable banners, more prominent aviators, and set the color theme of their channels. When it comes to displaying videos on the channel, they can curate their content by re-ordering it and creating video collections.
The bio section for creators has been revamped, allowing creators to add keywords relating to their channel and links to social media accounts such as Instagram and Facebook, making it easier for them and their channels to be discovered on and off the platform.
Also, aiding in channel discovery is the addition of channel trailers. Previously, when users came across an offline channel, there was just a blank video player or an offline image. Now, creators have the option to add a trailer for their channel so that even when they're offline, viewers who visit their channel will be able to get a sense of their type of content.
Lastly, the channel updates feature schedule integration that enables creators to set and share a schedule for when they are going live. The schedule will also include past broadcasts that can be watched after the live stream.
The redesigned channel page will be rolling out over the next few weeks, but creators have actually had access to the new channel experience for the last month.
Insights & Analysis:
Like most live streaming platforms right now, Twitch is seeing an increase in usage and as a result, taking steps to improve the experience by releasing new features such as Watch Parties as well as partnering up with other relevant platforms like SoundCloud.
The revamped channel page is another example of it improving the platform and its one that is equally beneficial for creators and viewers. Through new branding options and promotional tools, creators have more control of how their channel looks, helping them to express themselves more while viewer experience is significantly improved since viewers can now easily stay up to date on upcoming streams as well as discover new creators and channels that they may be interested in.
With increasing eyeballs on the platform, Twitch is likely going to keep pushing out updates in the near future.
