One of the best features of Spotify is its extensive library of playlists. The playlists make it very easy for the average music fan to keep up with the latest and best music out, but they are also very important for the artists themselves. Popular and influential playlists like RapCaviar and New Music Friday play a pivotal role in an artist's music being heard by the masses. Since the emergence of the popular music streaming platform, there have been a dozen examples of artists breaking out following a placement on one of Spotify's playlists.

Spotify is now giving artists, labels, and their teams the ability to submit unreleased music to the Spotify editorial team for playlist consideration.

"Today, we’re introducing a beta feature as part of Spotify for Artists and Spotify Analytics designed to make it easier for artists and labels to share unreleased music with this team — so our editors can create better playlists and artists have a better shot at landing on one," Spotify announced via a blog post

Artists or their representatives can submit unreleased music (seven days in advance of its release) by logging into their Spotify for Artists or Spotify Analytics accounts, respectively. Once logged in, they have the option of selecting one unreleased song for consideration and submitting it to the Spotify editorial team, which is made up of 100 music experts and cultural ambassadors throughout the world.

The company is also asking for additional information about the song such as its genre and mood, whether it's original or a cover, and more. This will help the Spotify editorial team when searching for music as well as placing music on the appropriate playlist.

"Editors will be searching through submissions based on the information you share to find unreleased music to consider for their playlists. The song and all the info you add about it will also impact our personalized recommendations," Spotify continues.

The new feature is currently in beta but will be launched fully following testing and feedback.  For more information on how to submit your music for Spotify's playlists, read the company's official announcement here
