Kevin Hart's Laugh Out Loud comedy network is launching a new channel on SiriusXM
Last summer, Kevin Hart launched his own multi-platform network and streaming video service in Laugh Out Loud with the help of Lionsgate. Following months of success including 500,000 downloads within the first 30 days of the app being launched, the superstar comedian is now expanding the brand and launching a new channel on SiriusXM in 2018.
The channel will feature a wide range of comedy programming including a weekly show hosted by Hart and stand-up routines, interviews, and shorts featuring a "selection of diverse comedic voices."
In a press release, Hart said:
"I am very excited to create a channel on SiriusXM that will be home to new frontiers in comedy. After launching our Laugh Out Loud video network, which is off to a fast start, our goal is to make the world laugh by reaching people wherever they are. SiriusXM is the perfect partner to introduce a whole new audience to our Laugh Out Loud brand. The world will soon discover that - believe it or not - I'm even funnier on radio."
In addition to the new channel on SiruisXM, Laugh Out Loud plans to focus on paid subscriptions in the future. Since its launch, it has offered a $2.99-a-month ad-free subscription but there was little promotion of it due to the company focusing on building awareness and fostering a community. In the new year, it will turn its attention to monterization through a series of live events and experimental events products.
In other entertainment news, Redbox launched a new digital movie and TV rental service called Redbox On Demand.
