Kevin Durant invests in on-the-spot pizza chain Pieology
Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant follows in the steps of Lebron James and gets into the pizza business.
In 2012, James invested a little under a million dollars in Blaze Pizza. According to reports, that investment is now worth atlas $35 million. This past summer, the company became the fastest growing restaurant chain in the country, opening its 200th restaurant. By the end of 2017, they are expected to reach sales of $285 million and top the one billion mark by 2022.
As for Durant, he and his manager/business partner Rich Kleinman invested in Pieology through their company, Durant Co. With the investment, they own a stake in the company and some of its franchises. The assembly line chain currently has 13 locations in the Bay Area and 140 locations worldwide.
Speaking to ESPN about Pieology, Durant said:
"I went to a one of them and saw how quickly they did it and was really impressed with the quality. I just felt like, given how fast our lives our these days, we don't want to wait for our pizza anymore."
Pieology is one of the many companies that Durant and his company has invested in over the years. Since the company started, they have invested in over 30 companies, putting in $50,000 and $2 million per investment,
