Jay Z will be the first guest on CNN's 'The Van Jones Show'

The Van Jones Show

Van Jones' new CNN show The Van Jones Show is scheduled to premiere Saturday, January 27th at 7 P.M.  The twice-monthly show will feature the social activist and former Obama administration policy advisor having raw conversations with political and cultural guests about race relations and politics in America. Using social media, live-crowd interaction, and taped segments of visits with people across America, Jones will take a look at trends shaping the upcoming 2018 and 2020 elections.

Jay Z will be the first guest on the show. The rapper/mogul will discuss his Grammy nominated album 4:44 and the themes behind it.

"The album is a real social justice classic, and I want to talk to him about that, " Jones told Variety.

Jay Z's appearance shouldn't come as much as a surprise. Over the last few months, the Roc Nation founder has been very busy in the social activism landscape.

He wrote a social justice column for the Hollywood Reporter titled This Is Our Power, penned a piece for the New York Times about Meek Mill and the flawed criminal justice system, and executive produced Time: The Kalief Browder Story, a powerful documentary about a teen who spent three years on Rikers Island without being convicted of a crime.

He is also set to appear on the second episode of David Letterman's new Netflix special My Next Guest Needs No Introduction

Be sure to tune in January 27th to see what Jay Z has to say about today's current issues.
