Instagram rolls out new 'Recommended For You' feature

Following weeks of testing, Instagram is rolling out a recommended posts feature to all users. Officially called Recommended For You, the new feature will show posts on your feed that are based on posts liked by accounts you follow.

These posts will show up with posts from people you actually do follow, but they will be clearly marked by a label at the top of the post. Basically, posts that you typically would see in the Explore tab will now show up on your feed. You can't disable Recommended For You, but you can temporarily hide posts by tapping the three dots at the top of a post and choosing "Hide."

Although this feature will likely disappoint many users including myself, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. Since making the switch from a chronological feed to an algorithmic one, the company has slowly rolled out several features to expand the content that you are exposed to beyond posts from accounts you follow.

In other social media news, Vine may be making a returning in the form of Vine 2.0.
