CBS launches CBS Sports HQ, a free 24-hour streaming network

Today, CBS launches its new sports-focused streaming network called CBS Sports HQ. The free 24-hour, ad-supported streaming network features a range of sports content derived from CBS Sports properties 247Sports, SportsLine, CBS Sports Fantasy, and Max Preps. It operates as a complementary service to CBS Sports and follows a similar model as CBSN, a 24/7 online news network launched in December 2014 that uses the resources, anchors, and correspondents of CBS News.  

Featuring talents such as Jorge Andres, Nick Kostos, Brady Quinn, Jamie Erdahl, and Hakem Dermish, CBS Sports HQ will function like a Sportscenter programming, providing viewers with sports news, game previews, highlights, and post-game analysis. It won't air any live event coverage though. 

In a press release, CBS Interactive CEO Jim Lanzone said:

“CBS Sports HQ is for fans who want more coverage of the game. Sports fans can now get the news and highlights they want in a true, round-the-clock sportscast on any device, where and when they want.” 

As of today, CBS Sports HQ can be accessed a number of ways including CBSSports.com,  the CBS Sports app for connected TV devices, the CBS Sports mobile app, and the CBS All Access subscription service. 

In other streaming service news, Viacom is launching its own streaming service in the fall.
