Bluesky Will Allow Users to Limit Replies to “followers Only” Soon

Bluesky will soon give users the ability to limit replies to Followers Only, according to developer Paul Frazee. He also mentioned that users will be able to set this as their default reply setting.

I am happy to say the "Followers only" reply setting is getting implemented. We're also adding a way to set default reply settings If you want your posts to default to "Followers only," that'll become an option

Why It Matters: Allowing users to limit replies to followers expands Bluesky’s existing customization options, which include Everybody, Nobody, Mentioned Users, and Followers.

This update gives users more control over who can engage with their posts, making it particularly useful when content goes viral. By restricting replies, users can better combat spam, reduce harassment, and limit discussions to those that may already be familiar with them.

Bluesky recently reached 30 million users. While it’s still significantly smaller than X and Threads, it continues to gain traction among those seeking an alternative text-based platform.
