Instagram now allows users to reply to Stories with a photo or video
Instagram is back in the news with an update for Instagram Stories. As of today (July 6th), you can now reply to Stories with a photo or video and it’s very easy to do so.
HOW TO REPLY TO A STORY WITH A PHOTO OR VIDEO
While watching a Story, tap the new camera button. From here, you will have the option to reply with Instagram’s creative tools that includes face filters, stickers, and Rewind.
HOW TO VIEW A REPLY TO YOUR STORY
Viewing replies to your Story is also very east. When someone replies to your Story with a photo or video, the reply will appear in your Direct inbox and can be viewed by simply tapping it. Once it’s viewed, it will disappear. However, if you choose to replay it or screenshot it, the person who sender will be notified.

According to Instagram, this update is the newest way that the company is working to make "Direct the best place to have fun, visual conversations with friends on Instagram."
It's no secret that Instagram has adopted many of SnapChat's features specifically Stories. Their latest update continues that as one of the SnapChat's best offering was the ability to directly communicate with friends through photo and videos. With Instagram now allowing this, the need to leave Instagram and open up SnapChat to have these type of visual conversations with friends is no longer necessary. Why use multiple apps when you can just use one? The battle between Instagram and SnapChat gets more interesting as new features and updates are rolled out for each platform.
