Watch the trailer for 'Jigsaw,' the newest installment in the 'Saw' franchise
Many thought the Saw franchise was over with the release of 2010's Saw 3D: The Final Chapter, but to the excitement of horror fans across the world, that isn't the case. After seven years, the popular franchise is making a return to movie theaters on October 27th, just in time for Halloween.
Titled Jigsaw, the eighth installment in the Saw series takes place ten years after the death of John Kramer, better known as Jigsaw. As dead bodies pop up throughout the city, questions arise whether Kramer is somehow still alive or if there's a copycat killer roaming the streets. According to directors, the brother tandem of Peter and Michael Spierig, the film will feature less gore but will be more fun and feature plenty of surprises.
Saw is one of the most profitable franchises in history, grossing over $870 million with only a $67 million budget across its seven films. It has been a significant amount of time since the last film so fans will be re-energized for the series and want to see Jigsaw, making it likely the film will put up high box office numbers the first week.
