Future taps Kendrick Lamar for the remix of his hit record "Mask Off"
Future and Kendrick Lamar have been two of the hottest artists in hip-hop over the last few years and this remains true in 2017 as both rappers recently released well-received commercial projects.
Future surprised fans by dropping two albums in back to back weeks with the self-titled FUTURE and the refreshing HNDRXX. As for KDot, he delivered the culture pushing DAMN, which is without a doubt the best album of the year so far.
With both rappers' stardom at an all-time high, the timing of their collaboration couldn't have been any better. Future taps Lamar for the official remix of his latest hit "Mask Off," a standout track off FUTURE.
As one would expect, Lamar doesn't disappoint and shows up with a strong guest verse. Over Metro Boomin’s flute laced production, the TDE rapper boasts about the success of DAMN, showcases a diverse flow and adds a unique twist to arguably the hottest song of the year.
Truth be told, I’m not a huge fan of remixes because they often feel forced. However, this actually works and will likely keep the record going strong and in rotation throughout the summer. It fact, it may even give Future the extra push he needs to get the record higher than it's previous impressive fifth spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
